WHO ARE WE?

Interact Club is a student Club run at Munich International School (MIS). We plan and organize fundraisers and other activites and initiatives in order to somehow benefit our local or global community. For example, a local project of ours has been working with the Refugees in our area, and on a global scale; fundraising for the Barefoot College.

The club and its activities are planned and run by students, with an outside supervisor who visits on a bi-weekly basis.

We introduce new members annually, and have multiple positions in the group that need to be filled every year. Some years the members do not change positions, but as students graduate and new ones come in, the roles rotate.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Our goal is to improve our local and global community, whether its through improving things in social or economic contexts.

We support a variety of different charities and organizations, some of which change yearly and some of which are more permanent. We fundraise using art auctions, bakesales, stalls at school events, etc. We also take initiative in creating articles to raise awareness to be published in our School Paper, the Buchhof Bulletin. We work with a range of activities, people, and goals, and always welcome new suggestions!

Our main long-term charity is Barefoot College, an organization that works to promote education throughout 93 countries, as well as providing women with education and vocational training that allows them to pull their families out of poverty. Barefoot College also supplies people in rural areas with light using solar power. The organization works towards the UN Development goals, such as sustainable living, rights & responsibilites, and womens wellness.

You can find out more about them on their website: https://www.barefootcollege.org/
